My focus is on exploration and working with students to find what works for them. I prefer giving room to test new materials and ideas first, grow comfortable with how tools and materials work. Then when can begin to focus on specific needs and how to best approach them, develop a growth mindset for art creation.

I am a certified art teacher, I take a playful and exploratory approach to teaching. The focus is to first become comfortable with the physicality of the material and tools. Then we can move forward with honing skills and building the foundational knowledge of theory and how to apply it to your work. Being able to find a practice you can enjoy takes precedence which helps lower the stress of getting started.

About:

I have my BFA in painting and drawing and MAT in Art education. Much of my personal philosophy comes from being playful and experimental in my practice. Art should be about enjoying the process of making something, not always the results. I've worked in drawing, painting, ink, clay, and digital practice. I find people often worry about not being "good" enough to make art and nervous about getting started. Art is a process, it's always about practice and learning as you go. You can't know how far you can go until you start taking steps to try. I like to adjust my methods to the individual, address their personal concerns and needs so I can better tailor guidance and advice in teaching.
