I am a mix of Japanese and white American, but I consider myself more Japanese than American. I was in Japan up to middle school and in the US from high school. My dad spoke to me in English while my mom spoke to me in Japanese, so I feel confident in terms of conversational speaking. However, I still find reading in Japanese more comfortable especially when it comes to academic papers :)
