We will begin with any homework the student may need help doing, or a short gauging of level. From there we will proceed through a generalized curriculum in order to prepare them for mathematical concepts they will encounter in the future. In short, they will be primed for things ahead of time.

For toddlers and children we also bring to fore some core concepts from Singapore math, allowing them to conceptualize certain things in ways that are easier to remember and use.

Specialized courses

We can begin by discussing a few methods espoused by different peoples and religions. Can also spend a moment looking at some secular apps that have been developed (Headspace, Calm), and then of course move into meditative practice, in part guided. Journaling on the side will encourage us to sift through our experiences.

We will begin with any homework the student may need help doing. From there, we will scaffold into continuously harder material until we are able to solve complicated word problems using common trigonometric functions (SohCahToa, inverses, etc). Using these concepts we will solve complicated problems by cutting them up into manageable pieces and proceeding in orderly fashion.

About:

Hi there! My name is Teacher Tom, and am a Spanish-Canadian cultural hybrid with interests in math and the arts. In my downtime, I edit fiction and play guitar. Since 2008 I have tutored on a variety of topics including basic computer literacy, sound system management, creative writing, public speaking, mathematics, chemistry, and of course English. These experiences taught me to keep classes short, casual and fun.

In 2017 I finished my BSc at Mount Royal University. Though the degree focused mostly on chemistry, physics, and biology, there was time to foment some interests of my own. Thanks to this, I also took classes on public speaking, creative writing, languages, and religious studies.
