The Communicative Approach is the most aligned for me and my teaching style. It is a great way to get to know different cultures and connect people by helping them interact. Nowadays we have a huge range of authentic materials and technologies to make learning fun and interesting. I try to make my lessons memorable and use materials my students are interested in. Language games, role plays and sequencing activities are indeed effective techniques of this approach.

In my teaching practice I normally use some of other useful methods such as chain drills, minimal pairs, dialogues and gamification. However, to improve and develop all four skills I also deal with more practical techniques. They are skimming, scanning, extensive and guided reading. It helps my students learn different kinds of strategies for language learning.
The element which resonates the most with me is “Providing learner guidance”. The main reason for that is the mere fact that a role of a helper in the learning process is my priority. That is why the strategies to guide my students are preferred. Providing support and instructions, adding visual aids, using metaphors and analogies are excellent tools to connect students with new concepts. My assistance in recalling, using or applying the information by learners is all about being “the guide on the side”. This way to play with a language, make mistakes, deal with the rules and understand the interactions is highly useful in language acquisition.
