Class discussion is a very magical teaching strategy! Peeling through the text together and responding to questions develops students' critical and creative thinking skills as well as their problem-solving or conflict-resolution skills. Group work and conducting presentations are two second strong strategies that I use to develop student interaction and student engagement in the classroom whether face-to-face or via remote or online expression. Using technology is a third powerful strategy.
In an enthusiastically energetic teaching style, I use an eclectic strategy of teaching depending on the subject, the learning objectives, and most importantly, the learning styles and preferences of the students. A lecture could include class discussion from the textbook, a movie clip, social media, news reporting, music, etc, followed by a role-play, for example. Completed assignments are discussed to provide feedback and so that students gain a deeper analysis of the subject matter.
My educational accomplishments include a Bachelor in Psychology, a Master of Science in Counseling and Educational and Instructional Technology, and I am presently in the dissertation stage of my Ph.D. in Education.
Professionally, I have been counseling and teaching at both the community college level and the university level for twenty years and so I am incredibly knowledgeable and well-experienced in advisement and in teaching.
