I am a life-long nerd and I want to share with others the joy I found in Biology and Math. I have a Bachelor's degree in Biology and strive to teach critical thinking and a deep curiosity about the world. I have 3 years of experience especially with students with intellectual and developmental disabilities such as: Dyslexia, ADHD and Autism.

I have a college degree in Biology and a life long love of the subject. I have taught this subject from middle school level - high school students in the past. My goal as a teacher is to give students the tools to build connections between the fundamentals and more complex aspects of the subject. This reduces the burden of memorization and allows students to feel confident in future classes.
I have taken collegiate level calculus and have the most experience tutoring in middle - high school algebra and geometry. Many students are failed early into their math experiences and the holes in their understanding continue to compound into higher level subjects. In my lessons I strive to take math from an abstract process into a more concrete understanding of what is happening in equations and where it applies
Though I have pre-prepared homework sheets and lesson plans, students can expect to be treated as an individual in every lesson. I emphasis reasoning and the ability to form connections in all of my lessons so that when students have to encounter new information they will know how to incorporate it with previous lessons. My goal is not just to help students pass the current exam or class but to be able to approach every future class with confidence and understanding.
As we go through a lesson together students can expect to be very hands on, I use many visuals, but also paper cutting and model making to help students connect with material and remember it.
